How do you work out what a 3D print costs?

Add the filament used at your spool's cost per gram, a waste allowance for purge and supports, machine time at your hourly rate, and your own labour. That total is your cost; your markup or margin on top of it is the price.

What waste allowance should I use for 3D printing?

Five percent covers normal purge and supports. Raise it if you print with multiple colours or lose plates to failures.
